Ice Cream is a Feeling

“None of us have any real training in food or culinary arts. Ice cream is sort of just a vessel for wild ideas. You know what I mean?” says Pete Angevine, co-founder of Little Baby’s Ice Cream in Philadelphia.

American Hipster visits the ice cream makers to make, sample and serve some wild flavors.

Interviewer: How long as this journey been?

Sarovar Banka: I actually don’t count. I purposely ignore the months. Let me not actually count the time and ignore the fact that years of my life are passing and like – people are having a children. Why count? If you’re a filmmaker, please don’t count your age.

That’s my advice to a younger self. Pretend you’re perpetually eighteen. Don’t count your age. Because you’ll always feel like you’re behind. So many people are moving so far forward in their lives. And you as a filmmaker feel like you’re swimming in quicksand half the time. I don’t mean that in a depressing way. Swim joyfully in the quicksand. Frolic in it.
